The Price of Purpose

No category

Consistently pursuing purpose is a great feat. As believers, many of us have experienced ‘false starts’, where we pursue purpose and then swiftly abandon it at the request of distraction.
When we think about distractions we look to the obvious things like socials, tv, friends, etc. What is interesting about some of the things we deem distraction, is the fact they tend not to be negative; it is our inability to balance them healthily that is!
Our battles serve as distraction, but we can often remain naive to the direct impact it has on purpose. Our response amid battles to our purpose is significant. When what we are going through becomes louder than what we have been called to do - we have an issue!
If you are overwhelmed and feeling defeated, discovering the motivation to pursue purpose can seem impossible. You just want to go through what you are going through as quickly and pain-free as possible. Whilst human rationale and the world may tell you that it’s ok to “switch off” and “just be”; unfortunately the aftermath of this approach extinguishes the motivation that was once on fire.
We all have times when we need to take a break, re-gather, replenish and hear from The Lord, but one thing remains key… JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION, DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE NOT UNDER INSTRUCTION!                            God doesn't give annual leave from purpose. Yes God may be working on your heart, healing you and walking you through this season but it is in no way an excuse to allow idleness to take you captive.
Undoubtedly, God will instruct and speak even in the midst of what can be your biggest battle. He speaks because irrespective of what is in front of you, His agenda still stands. Purpose does not have a pause button to resume at convenience. Your purpose is and remains the very reason we exist!
Our inability to function in purpose even through pain highlights a spiritual imbalance that one must address. What God has spoken, should always take precedence, but we somehow use our trials as crutches and illegally register our purpose as disabled.
Understand this, what you carry God has sheep that need it. And the sheep can’t wait until the DJ plays the last song at your pity party. God is patient with us, even through the construction stages but his instruction still requires action!
The best “distraction” He wants you to have is your purpose! To be so engrossed with what He has asked you to do that you forget what you are going through. Will it be easy? No. Will it be difficult? Yes. But consider these things pure joy so that your faith can produce perseverance (James 1:2-4).
The price of purpose is costly. It will cost you the transaction of exchanging your will for His. But know that there is no safer place than being inside of the will of God!
